GEHA Dental is a dental service provided by the Government Employees Health Association (GEHA) that is based in Missouri. GEHA is a private, not-for-profit and self-insures association that belongs to health and dental insurance industry. The services are only provided to federal or government employees, retirees and their dependents through Federal Employees Health Benefits Plan (FEHBP) and the Federal Employees Dental and Vision Insurance Program (FEDVIP). GEHA provides its health and dental benefits to almost 1.5 million patients worldwide. The company has two subsidiaries namely PPO USA, Inc. opened in 1997 and Surety Life acquired in 2012.

GEHA offers fee-for-service health plan paired with preferred provider organization (PPO) and high deductible health plan (HDHP) with health savings account (HSA). On the Dental side GEHA provides Connection Dental Federal FEDVIP plan. On 31st December of 2006, Office of Personnel Management (OPM) adopted GEHA to provide dental and vision benefits to federal employees under the Federal Employees Dental and Vision Insurance Program (FEDVIP). Through FEDVIP of GEHA, members can avail the access to over 240,000 in-network dentist locations in the United States.

Government Employees Health Association (GEHA) was founded in 1937 in the Kansas City of Missouri as Railway Mail Hospital Association. During that period the financial help in medical expenses was only provided to clerks of Railway Mail Service. In 1964, the company expanded, started offering health insurance benefits to federal employees from all federal agencies and branches. This changed the organization name to Government Employees Health Association in 2007.
