What is Whitby Minor Baseball Contact?
Whitby Minor Baseball Association (WMBA) offers competitive baseball leagues in the town of Whitby. It offers services to those who fulfil the eligibility criteria of Age and includes boys and girls. The association is responsible for putting the youth of Whitby on baseball diamonds.
Background
The association was founded in the year 1969 and has been an asset to the town and its youth since then. It began with 335 players on twenty different teams, which included both WMBA and EOBA teams, playing four hundred and fifty games. It held first opening day parade on 31st of May, 1969. The association has grown big since then and is well supported by the community. In the year 1974, the association was incorporated as not for profit corporation with
Charter granted by the Provincial Government. The association grew such that at the height of the Blue Jay’s excitement the association had over 2200 registered players (from Mosquito to junior ages) on ten Rep teams and 132 House League teams.
Services
The association has generally over twenty rep teams and over hundred house league teams. It starts with training the children to begin in Blastball with a game, which emphasises baseball skills like hitting, running, throwing and fielding. During instructional leagues, every year new skills are learnt such that when children begin Rookie Ball they begin playing baseball using pitching machine and eventually start pitching and following all rules in the older divisions. Children are placed in divisions based on birth years. Each season, the division associated with child's birth year is posted on the .
