What is Sundaram Medical Foundation?

Sundaram Medical Foundation (SMF) was founded by Dr. S. Rangarajan in the year 1990 with the vision to provide community centred Quality Health Care at affordable prices. Also named as Dr. Rangarajan Memorial Hospital, is a non-profit trust organization which is run by M/s Sundaram Finance Group of Companies. SMF’s main hospital is located at Anna Nagar, Chennai and the hospital has two other centre’s namely Children and Surgical Centre, Children and Specialty Centre. The hospital is the only one in Chennai to be accredited for its laboratory services in biochemistry, microbiology, histopathology and clinical pathology by NABL: 15189:2007. Also, the hospital is the first in India which is accredited by ISO/IEC 27001:2005- Information Security management. The hospital is preparing itself further for the prestigious NABH accreditation soon.
The hospital has the best and most experienced team of medical professionals working all time round for providing best of care to their patients. SMF is the centre for post graduate training in nine different medical disciplines which is approved by the esteemed National Board of Examination, New Delhi for the award of its DNB degree. It was also the first hospital in India which could start its DNB certification course in the field of critical- care trauma by National Board of Examination. The hospital also conducts regular in-house staff training programmes as a part of continuous medical education program in order to keep their staff updated with the advances in their respective specialities.
SMF is a 125 bedded multi-speciality hospital with an Emergency Department of 10 bedded unit. The ICU’s are well equipped with all the modern ICU facilities and equipments. The hospital depicts its motto “New Born to nineties under one roof” validating the wide range of specialities ranging from paediatric to geriatric care being available at their centre.
Keeping up with their vision of community services the hospital has many community activities like CAN STOP, which is a voluntary organisation which provides Cancer Support Therapy to combat pain to the cancer patients and their families. The hospital has adopted Adhi Dravida Tribal Welfare School and provides annual general check-ups to the students as a part of their Sundaram Arokiam Plan. Also, they have a weekly forum called STEP, which runs with the purpose of learning, educating and supporting better health care.
