What is Mizzou?
The University of Missouri also known as Mizzou is a public research university located in Columbia, Mussouri, United States. It was established on February 11, 1839 as the first public institution of higher education and is now the largest university in Missouri. It is a flagship of the University of Missouri System and consists of campuses in Rolla, Kansas City and St. Louis. The University of Missouri is also a member of the Association of American Universities and is also one of the top-tier R1institutions of the country. The campus of the university is spread on more than twelve-hundred acres of land and more than thirty-four thousand students are enrolled in the university. The Missouri University offers various undergraduate and post-graduate programs and the University of Missouri Research Reactor Center is the most powerful university research reactor of the world. The university has affiliations with AAU, ORAU and APLU and the University of Missouri Health Care System is also owned by the University that manages and operates the four hospitals in the Mid-Missouri. The Missouri School of Journalism established in the year 1908 is ranked as the leading school of Journalism and is the first of its kind internationally. The Library of the University consists of huge collection of books, volumes and journal subscriptions making it the largest library collection in the state. The university has various museums and galleries. The university is also a member of the SEC Academic Consortium and the university is headed by the chancellor. The university has more than twenty on-campus residence halls for the students and offers various sports and athletic facilities to the students.
