What is Lakehead University Thunder Bay Contact?
Lakehead University is a co-educational research university that started its journey in the year 1946 under the Lakehead Technical Institute. In 1957, it changed its name to Lakehead College of Arts, Science and Technology. The college was granted as University status in 1965 and the name was given as 'Lakehead University'. The university is commonly called as Lakehead U or LU which is affiliated to the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada, the Council of Ontario Universities, the Canadian University Society for Intercollegiate Debate and Women in engineering.
Lakehead University provides a broad line of undergraduate and postgraduate courses related to Aboriginal Education, Business, Environmental Sustainability, Education-Concurrent, Environmental Management, Indigenous Learning, Resource and Environmental Economics. The university serves more than 8000 students annually. It has Three campuses namely Thunder Bay campus, Orillia campus and Residence. Thunder Bay Campus was established in 1957 which covers an area of around 116 hectares comprising of 39 buildings. Orillia Campus was built in 2006 which has residential facilities for the students. Moving toward the Residence Campus, it makes available three types of accommodation including townhouses, apartments and residence halls. All the campuses have several modern facilities such as cafeteria, study rooms, bookstore, Dining halls and lots more. It has adopted 'The Thunderwolf' as mascot.
On the other hand, the university also offers sports facilities to their students. Its sports teams are known as Lakehead and Thunderwolves that participate in the Basketball, Volleyball, Wrestling, Hockey, Soccer and Nordic Skiing. Lakehead University consists of two athletic facilities namely the Hangar and the Fieldhouse. The Hangar includes cardio area, a climbing wall, indoor track, aerobic studio and soccer field. In addition to this, the Fieldhouse has fitness center, changing room, gymnasium and swimming pool. Lakehead University also gives scholarships to the eligible students.
