What is Kuwait Government?
The Kuwait government is a parliamentary legal dominion. The state of Kuwait was governed by the Al-Sabah in 1752. Due to financial power of the merchants the political power of the Al-Sabah became limited. On January 23, 1899 Al-Sabah and British signed an agreement for British protection of Kuwait. According to this agreement Al-Sabah should not accept any representatives of any foreign country without the British Government. Al-Sabah agreed to assign a Commissioner in Kuwait and they assign Captain Nox as Commissioner of Kuwait on April 28, 1906. After that political commissioner were assigned till Independence of Kuwait in 1961. The actual independence of the Kuwait was on June 19, 1961. Many new legal and diplomatic procedures were imposed after independence of the Kuwait. The Amiri decree was declared. They decided for general elections for an assembly that was authorized to draft the state constitution. The draft constitution of Kuwait was accomplished during 9 months of the assembly. The draft consists of 183 articles. These articles were presented to Al-Salem. Al-Salem issued those drafts on November 11, 1962. After issuing the drafts the old flag of Kuwait was replace with the new flag. The old flag was of red colour and word “Kuwait” was in the middle of the flag. On January 23, 1962 the first parliamentary election was held in Kuwait. In this election 50 members was choose to represent 10 constituencies. On January 29, 1963 Al- Salem assemble first National Assembly. Nowadays Kuwait is the most democratic and liberal country in the Middle East. The Judiciary system of Kuwait is independent from the government influence. The judiciary system of Kuwait is the most independent judiciary in the Arab World. In 1961 the Emir power is defined in Kuwait and they appoint the prime minister in Kuwait. Emir submits three names from the family to the National Assembly as eligible Crown prince. After the death of Emir, crown Prince was approved by a majority of members of the democratically elected National Assembly. Emir Saad Al- Abdullah Al- Sabah was removed from the position on January, 24, 2006 by voting of the parliament.
