In the following year, a state owned airline company British Overseas Airways Corporation (BOAC) purchased the majority shares (22 percent) of the company.
In the 1980s, the company grown and expanded its business operations with GAIN of membership of a global trade association International Air Transport Association (IATA). In the Next year, it started services in the South Arabia's capital city Riyadh, and became the first company in the world to do so.
