The Company was started in 1925 by many smaller companies to provide power services in Jacksonville and some other parts of Florida. It grew along with the population of the state. Florida Power and Light Company is headquartered in Juno Beach, Florida, USA. It has approximately 11,000 employees, which makes it one of the leading employer in Florida state. The Company is involved in all electricity serving operations such as electricity generation and distribution. It was the first company which was based outside Japan and was rewarded with Deming Prize. The Company had obtained the rewards in 1989 with the help of Dr. Noriaki Kano. In June, 2005, Its parent group had acquired Gexa Energy which was the retail electricity provider in Houston. That acquisition had made its way into Texas electricity market. FPL had took over 100,000 meter service area for US$81 million. The Company owned and operates St. Lucie and Turkey Point nuclear power plants. The Company has total Revenue of $14.3 billion in 2012 and has potential of total 42,000 megawatt power generation. Along with Florida Power & Light Company, the group also operates one more subsidiary known as, Nextera Energy Resources, LLC.
