What is Caloptima?

CalOptima is health insurance system, which handles the health care programs for the children, senior citizens; disable person and low income families living in Orange County. The system covers the health care using Three major programs, i.e. Medi-Cal, healthy Families Program and OneCare (HMO SNP). Medi-Cal or California's Medicaid Program is a health insurance program that completes the needs of low-income families and foster care children. PACE stands for Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly that gives health services to senior citizens. CalOptima contently develop programs to build members' health better.

Business Operations

CalOptima came into existence as a County Organized Health System (COHS) in 1993 that was started by the Orange County Board of Supervisors. CalOptima has the network of over six thousand doctors, twenty four hospitals, 484 pharmacies and 30 health centers which provide services to about 360000 members. It is the 4th biggest Medi-Cal handled care plan in California, and the 2nd largest health insurer in Orange County.
