What is Singapore Nursing Board?
The Singapore Nursing Board (SNB) is the administrative authority for nursing staff and midwives in Singapore. The purpose of The Singapore Nursing Board is to protect the people through regulation of nursing/midwifery knowledge and practice. The scope and features of the Singapore Nursing Board are described in the Nurses and Midwives Act (chapter 209) for registration and enrolment of nurses and midwives. The Dream of the SNB is to create a Healthy Nation through World-Class Nursing. To Maintain Expert Medical Standards and Honor the Public Trust are now becomes the mission of the Singapore Nursing Board. The Singapore Nursing Board create invent some values among nursing staff and midwives like compassion, integrity, respect and transparency. Generally the Singapore Nursing Board does all those activities which authorized under the Nurses and Midwives Act (Chapter 209). The main functions of the Singapore Nursing Board includes approval or rejection of application for registration and enrolment of nurses/ midwives and for certification of Advanced Practice Nurses, issuing practising certificates, maintain standards for training and regulate professional conduct and ethics of registered or enrolled nurses/ midwives and Advanced Practice Nurses. Ms Low Beng Hoi and Ms Pauline Tan Cheng Jee are the chairman and Registrar of The Singapore Nursing Board from May 2012 to April 2015. The Singapore Nursing Board also maintained some standards to help nurses/midwives in their Continuing Nursing Education (CNE) activities.
