What is Ns Power?
NS Power originally known as "Nova Scotia Power Inc.," is an electric utility responsible for the distribution of Energy services in Nova Scotia and its surrounding regions in Canada. The company works as a subsidiary of "Emera Incorporated", a publicly traded energy and services company. NS Power does all the work from electricity generation, transmission and distribution.
History
The company's history dates back to 1919, when the "Nova Scotia Power Commission" was created, which gave birth to many crown corporation electric utilities in the country. In 1974, the commission bought a privately owned company, "Nova Scotia Light and Power Company, Limited" and thus established the
Nova Scotia Power Corporation. In 1984, the company unveiled an energy generation plant at Annapolis Royal and became the 1st company in the world to be engaged in tidal power generation business. In 1992, it became private company as the provincial government sold the company assets. The parent company of NS Power, i.e. Emera Incorporated" had C$7.8 billion in assets and revenues of C$2.1 billion according to December, 2012.
