What is NREMT?
NREMT originally known as "National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians" is a certification agency in the United States. The agency provides certification to hospitals and medical institutes give different types of treatment services. The certifications provided by the agency are divided in four different levels: National Registry Paramedic (NRP), National Registry Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (NRAEMT), National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT) and National Registry Emergency Medical Responder (NREMR).
History
NREMT was formed in the year 1970 on the recommendations of the 36th president of the United States Lyndon Johnson committee named on Highway Traffic Safety for Emergency Medical Technicians. In the year 1978, the agency gained the membership of the National Commission for Health Certifying Agencies. The NREMT certification is compulsory for a new state certification, but it is not necessarily required for renewals. Before providing certifications to a candidate or a medical institution, the agency takes a written examination on different medical techniques for students. In case of medical institutions, the agency sends a team of experts to those institutes for checking the status of services.
