What is Northern Illinois University Admissions?
Northern Illinois University is the leading co-educational research university which provides a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses regarding business, law, visual and performing arts, engineering, biological sciences, economics, geology, hospitality administration, marketing, psychology and more. As of 2013 records, it has served more than 25,313 students which has been increasing every year. The university was founded in the year 1895 under the name Northern Illinois State Normal School by John P Altgeld who was the governor of Illinois. With the passage of time, the school was renamed as Northern Illinois State Teachers College in 1921 and then, it became Northern Illinois State College. In 1957, the college has granted with university status and got the name Northern Illinois University.
Northern Illinois University is an affiliated to the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities; and Universities Research Association Inc. It has satellite centers which are located in Oregon, Naperville, Hoffman Estates and Rockford. The university has 7 colleges. The main campus of the Northern Illinois University is spread in an area of around 756 acres which consists of 64 buildings. The campus has comprehensive facilities such as theater, computer lab, ballroom, restaurants, bookstore, lounges etc. It also gives accommodation facility to the students through fifteen residential halls namely New Residence Hall Community Center, Grant Towers North, Northern View Community, Stevenson Towers South, New Residence Hall East, Neptune Hall West and Gilbert Hall. Northern Illinois University also gives sports facility to the students. Its athletic teams are known with 'Huskies' and they participate in various games including football and soccer.
