The Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) is a principal agency responsible for the urban governance in Greater Mumbai and is located at the Mahapalika Marg, Fort, Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. It was established in the year 1882 as the first municipal corporation of India. In Asian continent, the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai is one of the largest local governments. The corporation is responsible for the metropolitan infrastructure and administration of the Greater Mumbai. The Corporation is headed by the Municipal Commissioner and he is appointed by the Government of Maharashtra. The Municipal Commissioner is assisted by various officers and heads of various departments. The Municipal Commissioner is responsible for the maintenance of various infrastructures of the Greater Mumbai including roads, water supply, drainage, storm water and delivery of large number of services to the citizens of the Mumbai.
