History
CCM was incorporated in 1899 through the merger of four bicycle companies in Canada. In 1905, the company started manufacturing hockey sticks from scrap steel that was used in the production bicycles. CCM purchased Tackaberry brand of skates in 1937 and continued to produce under the Tack line until 2006. The company was sold to David Zunenshine after being bankrupt in 1983 and stepped in the production of toys.
In 1991, the company was official renamed as SLM International Incorporation and acquired Kevin Sports Toys, Norca Industries and Innova Dex Sports. It was renamed as The Hockey Company in 1999 and sold some of its business operations to
Reebok in 2004.
