What is BCBS National?
BCBS National is an independent healthcare insurance association operated in the United States. It is officially known as The Blue Cross Blue Shield Association and commonly shortened as BCBSA. The association also serves in approximately 170 countries throughout the world under its own trademark namely Blue Cross and Blue Shield. BCBS is a national federation independent community that locally operated as Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies. The association was originally created in the year 1929 as Blue Cross. In the year 1960, it was introduced as Blue Cross Association. Apart from this, the Blue Shield was launched in 1939 and it was re-branded as Blue Shield Association in 1948. In the year 1982, the both associations were merged to establish The Blue Cross Blue Shield Association. It is situated with principal head office in Michigan Plaza Chicago, Illinois, United States.
