What is Younkers?

Younkers is an American departmental stores chain. The stores in the chain are pioneered in selling various products of an individual's needs such as clothing, fashion accessories, footwear, jewelry, beauty products, home furnishing goods like bedding, Home Furniture and other housewares.

Younkers was started as a family-run dry goods business with the extreme efforts of Polish immigrant Brothers Lipman, Samuel and Marcus Younker back in the year 1856 in Keokuk, Iowa. Younkers got its incorporation after several years of its establishment in the year 1904. The chain started expanding its Roots to other parts in Iowa and took over business of many other department stores like Wilkins Department Stores in 1923, Harris-Emery in 1927 and J. Mandelbaum and Sons in 1928. Since the establishment of the company it had been acquired by number of companies. As of December, 2013 it was owned and operated by 'The Bon-Ton' also a department stores chain in the United States which bought it from Saks Incorporated at whopping cost of $1.1 billion. The chain had 50 stores through several states of the United States such as Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, South Dakota, and Wisconsin as of December, 2013.

Younkers had won many prestigious awards from many US organizations for the quality of services being offered to its customers.
