What is University of Richmond?
The University of Richmond is a private, multicultural, Liberal Arts University located in Richmond, Virginia, United States. This University was founded by Virginia Baptist in year 1830 as manual labor institute and was assimilated as Richmond College ten years later. There are approximately 4,361 students doing various courses in five schools. The Nick name of this University is Richmond Spiders. The President of this University is Edward L. Ayers.
During American Civil war, the buildings of Richmond College were used as hospital for Confederate troops and Union Barracks. In the year 1894, Dr. Frederic W. BoatWright was selected as the president of the college and he served for a period of fifty one years. In year 1914, he moved the college from Downtown location to 350-acre Campus to Westhampton area of Richmond. The main library is named as BoatWright Memorial Library. Various research opportunities are offered by University of Richmond for students in all academic areas
