What is the European Court of Human Rights?
The European Court of Human Rights is a court situated in Strasbourg, France. The court was founded in 1959 which hears applications alleging that a contracting state has breached one or more of the human rights provisions concerning civil and political rights. It is authorized by European Convention on Human Rights. it has about 47 judges and One from each of the 47 member states of the Council of Europe. Dean Spielmann is the current president of the court. Decisions are appealed to Grand Chamber of the European Court.
