What is Singapore Conference Hall?
Singapore Conference Hall refers an architecture, which is used for multipurpose and situated in Shenton Way, Downtown Core, Singapore. In 1960s and 1970s, it was just a place for exhibitions and conferences but now it is renovated and modernised into a concert hall. It had successfully completed in 1965 with the cost of S$4 thousand. During that time it was an example of the country's urban architecture. The building of Singapore Conference Hall located on a three acre at the four way stop of Shenton Way and Maxwell Street. The Hall has five storey with outdoor parking and no basement. The design of the Singapore Conference Hall was selected in 1961 from National Open Competition. The architecture was mainly used concrete and glass in the external walls of building. The large roof of the Singapore Conference Hall is designed as butterfly. The large area on the first level is used for programs and from which guests might discover their way to the upper floors. The large space of Singapore Conference Hall can also be used for different functions like exhibitions, parties, activities and conferences. The rooms were on the third to fifth surfaces of the building are fashioned for trade congress. Malayan Architects Co-Partnership designed the whole building of The Singapore Conference Hall, which is successfully completed by Architects Team 3. A letter for gazetting the hall into a national monument in Future is posting to Preservation of Monuments Board, and if the Board will give acceptance for that then the hall will be remodeled to its near-original type.
