What is Singapore Airlines?
Singapore Airlines Limited is a publicly held airline company that provides passenger and Cargo air transportation services in internationally was founded on 1st of May 1947 with the incorporation of Malayan Airways Limited. The first chartered flight from British Straits Settlement of Singapore to Kuala Lumpur and that was the regular weekly scheduled of flights from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur. With getting the technical support from BOAC, Qantas Empire Airways and IATA, Malayan Airways expanded the business included Douglas DC-4 Skymaster, the Vickers Viscount, the Fokker F27, the Lockheed 1049 Super Constellation, the Bristol Britannia and the de Havilland Comet 4. In 1966 airlines name was changed from “Malayan Airways” to “Malaysian Airways”. On the separation from federation, airlines changed again with “Malaysia-Singapore Airlines”.

Malaysia wanted to have the business on domestic routes. Thus MSA’s
Boeing 707s and 737s were kept by Singapore Airlines with J.Y. Pillay, the chairperson of Singapore Airlines and Airlines commenced operations on 1st of October 1972 as Singapore Airlines Limited. Singapore added the cities in Indian subcontinent or Asia with Boeing 727s, Boeing 747s and Douglas DC-10s. In 1980 the Airlines Services were expanded to United States, Canada, European cities and South Africa. Today Singapore Airlines is one of the leading Airlines. Singapore Airlines Limited is 56 per cent owned by Temasek Holdings, an investment company based in Singapore.
