What is Sfu Burnaby?
SFU stands for Simon Fraser University which is a Canadian publicly held research university. SFU Burnaby is the main campus of the university which covers in an area of around 1.7 square kilometers. It was opened in the year 1965 with 2,500 students. With the growth of the university, it serves more than 35,395 students. The university was named after in the honour of Simon Fraser who was a fur trader and explorer in North West Company. The main campus comprises a number of buildings like West Mall Complex, Education Building, Technology and Science Complex, Robert C Brown Hall, Chancellor's Gym Complex, Convocation Mall, Shrum Science Center, Applied Science Building, Strand Hall and SFU Theater. Burnaby campus has also facility of library namely W A C Bennett Library which has a large collection of approximately 2 million published books and 6000 print subscriptions. The towers, The Townhouse Complex, Hamilton Hall, Louis Riel House, Shell House and McTaggart-Cowan Hall are six residential halls of the university. Simon Fraser University is affiliated to The National Collegiate Athletic Association, The Canadian University Society for Intercollegiate Debate and The Canada West Universities Athletic Association. The university provides undergraduate and postgraduate courses regarding Environment, Health Sciences, Art and Technology, Communication, Business, Social Sciences and Applied Science.
