The San Antonio Water System (SAWS) is general utility services provider in Texas, United States. SAWS handles drinking water and sewage service across eight counties of the state. SAWS is owned and operated by City of San Antonio. SAWS takes water from Edwards Aquifer and serves SAWS to the customers. The Utility was formed in May, 1992. SAWS was come into the existence after the merger of Three agencies: City Water Board, City Waste Water Department and Alamo Water Conservation and Reuse District. First agency was responsible for supplying drinkable water to the community whereas other two were responsible for handling and treating waster water in Taxes. Since its inception, SAWS has gained national wide popularity for its endeavor of novel conservation and water management planning. The Utility plays important role in making San Antonio most water resourceful city across the country. SAWS offers many payment options such as Pay Online, Pay by Mail, Automatic Bill Pay and many others. The utility also provides plumbing assistance to its customers which save both time and money of the customers. SAWS serves more than 1,600,000 citizens, mostly located in Bexar County. The utility has 460,000 drinking water customers and 411,000 waste-water customers. SAWS also serves small utility systems within in the state.
