In 1993, the company was purchased by a global transportation services company, YRC Worldwide, Incorporation. After two years of business, it joined hands with the Smalley Transportation in 1995. As a result of this the company expanded its branches to 9 more US states. The corporate office of the company is situated in Johns Creek, Georgia. The company got its listing on country's national exchange named Nasdaq National Market Exchange in the year 2002.

Since its inception Saia took over operations of number of other companies to reach upto more number of people. Its major acquisitions include Clark Brothers which it took over in the year 2004.
