The Canada Revenue Agency or CRA is a government department that helps to implement the tax laws in Canada. It was established in November, 1999 as Canada Customs and Revenue Agency (CCRA) and reorganized in December 2003 as CRA. The agency helps to provide the social and economic Benefits to the people by collecting taxes from them such as income tax, sales tax, custom tax and many others. The Canada Revenue Agency has responsibility to process the tax returns such as Income tax returns, Payroll tax returns and others. It also oversees the benefit programs for Canadian families like Canada Child Tax Benefit (CCTB), Universal Child Care Benefit (UCCB) and many others. It also helps to process the Investigation Programs such as Voluntary Disclosures Program (VDP), Special Enforcement Program (SEP) and others. The agency also offers Taxpayer relief provisions in some circumstances under different tax law acts. The on-line services are also provided by the agency for public convenience such as file return, make payments, download tax forms and many others.
