What is Raj Bhavan Bhopal?
Raj Bhavan Bhopal serves as the residence of the the Governor of Madhya Pradesh. It was built by Nawab Shahjahan Begum of Bhopal in 1880 as a staying place for the British officers. It was known as Lal Kothi then. After independence, Bhopal was made part of India after dissolving its princely rule. The Government of India chosen Lal Kothi for the residence of administrative head for Bhopal and it was renamed as Commissioner House. After the merging of Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh, India according to the States Reorganisation Act of 1956, the commissioner house was renamed as Raj Bhavan and then it started as the official residence of Governors of Madhya Pradesh.
