What is Presidency College Kolkata?
Presidency College Kolkata is former name of Presidency University Kolkata, which came into existence on 20 January 1817 as Hindu College but later on the name was changed as Presidency College through British Government in the year 1857. Presidency College Kolkata has acquired a status of University in July 2010 and became Presidency University. Presidency College Kolkata offers high-education studies in under-graduation and post-graduation through its 15 academic departments some of them are Bengali, Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Economics, English, Geography, Geology, Hindi, History, Mathematics etc. The university also has signed memorandum of understanding with two worldwide reputed universities namely University of Groningen and Trinity College, Dublin. Talks about its infrastructure, the university has two hostels, which was built in 12 decades ago for boys and girls namely Government Eden Hindu Hostel and Presidency University Girls' Hostel. On the other hand, Presidency College Kolkata has two oldest research and higher education libraries which is known as science library and arts library.
