Port Authority is a public Transit agency in Pennsylvania state. It is the 16th biggest transit agency in the country and 2nd in the state. Port Authority was formed on March 1, 1964 as Port Authority Transit (PAT. It is also known as Port Authority of Allegheny County. The agency is handled by nine-member board of directors and a CEO. Its members are elected by county council. Port Authority covers the whole state with buses and light rails. Its service area includes Allegheny County and some parts of Beaver, Westmoreland, Armstrong, etc counties. The agency handles 69 stations and 230,000 Daily riderships. Port Authority has more than 700 buses, 83 Light rail and two Funicular.
