What is Oakville Trafalgar Hospital Contact?
Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital is a public chronic Care Hospital located in Oakville, Ontario Province Canada. Its operations are under Halton Healthcare Services under which Milton District Hospital and Georgetown Hospital are also run. Oakville Hospital Foundation supports the hospital by raising funds for purchasing required equipments.
The foundation of the hospital was laid in 1937 as a four bed hospital in Oakville at Mcdonald Road. In 1944 Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital Association was formed by a residents' group of Oakville for building a new hospital to take care of critical patients traveling to Toronto. However hospital's construction was held up owing to World War II. Subsequently, on 14 Feb 1950 Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital was opened at the current location with 13 doctors and nurses and 50 beds. In 1963 it added an intensive care unit, operating & recovery room, chapel, obstetrical and x-ray units. Presently, the hospital provides various services under its 14 units viz., Cancer, Ambulatory, Respiration, Diabetes, Maternity, Paediatrics, Laboratory, Mental Health, Kidney Clinic, Emergency, Surgery, Geriatrics, Outpatient, Homo-dialysis and Intensive Care Unit.
The hospital has initiated patient safety measures namely, Delirium management, patients' fall management by recognizing patients with risk of fall and using alert system, hands hygiene through washing facilities which are available at entry and exit, medication safety to check correct dosage to the correct patient using proper documents and retrieval technology, electronic patient identification known as Mobilab and patients' involvement in health care. Other measures that involves visitors to adhere to ensure further health and safety are: a complete smoke free hospital, ban of mobile phones (in specific area), perfumes including perfumed products and rubber balloons.
Facilities available in the hospital are bicycle racks, wheelchairs, medical store, ATM, elevators, flower delivery, gift shops, fire alarms, security, newspaper and hairdresser, Cafeteria (operates 24 hours) and snack vending machines (in emergency, maternal department and cafeteria).
The hospital has won awards from Ministry of Health viz.: Quality Healthcare Workplace Award on Nov 7, 2011 and in 2007 and 2008 for patient focused care. It was also awarded with MOREOB Award by Status Global for its birth units, in 2005 for healthy hospital from National Quality Institute, in 2012 Eat Smart Award for best standards in nutrition and food safety by public health inspectors for its cafeteria.
