History
NTT DoCoMo started their business operations in August 1991 following separation from "Nippon
Telegraph and Telephone". In the name of company, NTT is acronym for "Nippon Telegraph and Telephone". The second part of the name “DoCoMo” came from the phrase “do communications over the mobile network” by taking first two letters of every word from the phrase. The company offers several telecommunication services ranging from voice and data services like international calling, SMS services, internet services, multimedia services. Besides this the company is active in sales of mobile equipment such as mobile phones, smartphones, tablets,
Iphone and feature phones. The company also offered PHS services, which were discontinued in January 2008. In 2001, it unveiled FOMA, a W-CDMA based 3G service, and became the 1st global company to do so.

NTT DoCoMo is having majorly two owners in the form percentage of stake in the company. About thirty
Three percent of the shares are owned by the Government of the country and the rest is owned by the Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation.
