Norfolk is the second biggest city near Virginia beach in Virginia in the united state and situated at the core of the Hampton Roads metropolitan area. Its population was above 230,000 in 2012. The City is famous for big natural harbor located at Chesapeake Bay. Norfolk is one of the nine cities and counties, which collectively formed Hampton Roads Metro area. It is the oldest city among these nine cities and counties.
Norfolk city is surrounded by Elizabeth river, Chesapeake Bay, Chesapeake and Virginia Beach. The city is recognized as the historic, financial and cultural hub of the region. It is the location of the largest Navy Base, known as Naval Station Norfolk and NATO's headquarter. Norfolk city also houses, head office of Norfolk Southern Railway.
Most part of boundaries is covered with water; it is linked with neighboring cities through network of Interstate highways and three bridge-tunnel complexes.
