Hospital Queens was started for the sake of unmarried mothers in a humble house on East 123rd Street in Manhattan. It was run by the Salvation Army and was named as the Rescue Home for Women at its initial stage. The hospital was opened with 210 beds and 45 bassinets at its primary Stage on February 14, 1957. In addition to this, another wing was introduced which housed the program for unmarried mothers by Salvation Army’s and it was called The Perkins Pavilion. The New York Hospital Queens and The Presbyterian Hospital joined hands in 1997 and form the New York Presbyterian Hospital Care.
