Ministry of Transportation, St. Catharines is one of the headoffice locations of the Ontario Ministry of Transportation along with Downsview, Queen's Park. Formed in 1916, the ministry is working under the jurisdiction of the government of Canada. The ministry was started as regional road building instructor in the Ontario, meant to setup the smooth transport infrastructure in the region. with the coming of 1916, it became the department of highways (DOH), and started establishing network of regional highways. In addition to this, it is also responsible to impose variety of road safety legislation for motor vehicles, commercial vehicle etc. Apart from this, it also supports the rules that comes under the Ontario's Highway Act including driving hours for commercial vehicles; necessary automobile insurance act, transportation of dangerous goods such as petroleum and other chemical products in Ontario.
