Midfirst Bank was formerly known as Midfirst Bank, SSB and later re-named to Midfirst Bank on 12th December 1995. Midfirst Bank was founded in 1954.

MidFirst was founded as Midland Home finance loan Company, which come into play in 1950 by several groups of Oklahoma City area bankers. In 1956, Oklahoma City area banker W.R. Johnston acquired half of the company, and remaining half acquired in 1963 along with his son-in-law, George Records. W.R.Johnston collaborated with George Records and created several group of companies known as the Midland Group. The Midland Financial Corporation was the primary business of that Midland Group. Finally in 1982, Midland Financial Corporation re-named to Midfirst Bank.
The bank expanded to its best, opening its own new branches as well as acquiring ten branches through regulatory firms and six more in a private transaction to help itself to extend it to 24 branches by 1991.
