What is Martin Van Buren?
Martin Van Buren was the 8th Vice President, 10th Secretary of State and 18th President of the United States. He served as president from 1837 to 1841. Martin Van Buren is the only president who has spoken Dutch as his first language. He was born on December 5, 1782 in a village named Kinderhook, New York, which is located approx twenty five miles from South of Albany. His father name is Abraham Van Buren, who was an owner of 6 slaves and did farming. Martin Van Buren acquired his basic education from small school located in village and later studied in the Kinderhook Academy and Washington Seminary.
