What is Lightroom?
Adobe Photoshop Lightroom is a computer software, provided by Adobe System. It is used to edit and manage images and is operated on Windows and OS X platforms. The software was mainly introduced to assist the people who have to handle large number of digital images and are involved in post production operations. It is a combination of photo editing and photo management facilities under one interface. Lightroom has many common photo editing tools with Adobe Photoshop; but the strength of these features are different. The software is not a file browser like Adobe Bridge; it is a database that assists in viewing and handling an image. Its strongest competitor is Aperture program which was developed by Apple and both has non-destructive editing facility. Initially, Adobe has introduced the beta version of the software on January 9, 2006. Since then, it has introduced six versions of the software. Latest, Adobe has released 5.4 version on April 8, 2014. This version enables the users to synchronize with Lightroom Mobile Application, installed on iPad. Some of the notable features of Adobe Photoshop Lightroom include Library, Slideshow export features, automatic gallery creation and many others. Beside light room, the company has developed number of software including Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Soundbooth, Adobe Audition, Adobe Content Server, Adobe BlazeDS, Portable Document Format, Shockwave Flash (SWF), Photoshop Express and Adobe Contribute. Adobe System was founded in 1982 and is headquartered in California. Since it inception, it was rewarded with many awards. The company has also faced Criticism Due to pricing, security and stability, source code and customer data breach, employee relations, etc reasons.
