What is LGA?
LGA is Laguardia Airport that is one of the nation’s busiest which is situated on old Gala Amusement Park opened in 1939 and Very soon become Northern Queens community’s integral part. Gala Amusement Park occupied the Gala Amusement Park which is the popular destination owned by Steinway family. The park was transformed into 105 acre private flying field and was named as Glenn H. Curiss Airport later renamed as North Beach Airport. When New York City took over the airport and with the purchasing of adjoining and enlarged the ground, it re-opened with a name as New York Municipal Airport- LaGuardia Field. In 1947 the Port Authority took over the control and did many innovations and improvements. Currently there are approximately 23 million passenger are served.
LaGuardia Airport Features:
LaGuardia Airport is spread in 680 acres and has up to 76 aircraft gates. The port Authority has total capital investment of $1.4. There are about 11,000 people who are working as employ at LaGuardia. There are about $15.6 billion has been contributed by the Airport to the economic activity to New York-New Jersey Metropolitan region. LaGuardia Airport serves with about 6,900 public parking spaces with five level parking garages and 4-22 and 13.31 are the two main runways.
LaGuardia Airport Terminals:
LaGuardia Airport has four Terminals these are Terminal A, B,
C and D. Terminal A is serving international flights on flying boats that is the original terminal building. Terminal B is a Central Terminal Building that mostly serves the domestic airlines. Terminal C have a space with 21 aircraft contact gates and this terminal is based on providing food, concessions courts, retail and welcome center on the arrivals level.
Delta Air Lines constructed Terminal D that has 10 gates. There are two enclosed walkway connected with Terminal C and D was opened by Delta in 2012.
