What is Landlord and Tenant Board Hamilton?
The Landlord and Tenant Board is the Canadian government agency previously known as Ontario Rental Housing Tribunal. IT Works as designated social Justice tribunal which resolves all the disputes that relates to all landlord tenant matters. The board was formed on 25th January, 2011 under the Residential Tenancies Act, 2006. It was formed along with other six tribunals including Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario, Social Benefits Tribunal, Custody Review Board, Child and Family Services Review Board, Special Education Tribunal and Special Education Tribunal. Before the formation of the act, all the landlord and tenant relation were administered under the Landlord and Tenant Act and all issues used to be resolved through the normal court system. To registered the case in this tribunal, one need to file an application to this tribunal board. The board offers chance to resolve the cases through mediation, and if it doesn't get success the Next step moves to hearing. All the selected members of the board hear evidence and witness of both parties, and make their decision to issue order. Tenant can file an application to reduce the rent to board, and on the other hand landlord may also request to the Board to increase rent above the rent guidelines of the area.
