What is Lake Lanier?
Lake Lanier is water reservoir built by forming Buford Dam on Chattahoochee River. This dam was built in 1956, and primary water source is Chattahoochee River and Chestatee River. Lake Lanier has total catchment area of 1,040 square miles, and has total surface is 37,000 acres. The dam was built on this lake to reduce flood effects; it owns total water volume of 1,049,400 acre feet.
