What is Lahore Zoo?
Lahore Zoo is one of the largest zoos in the world, occupies that total land area of 25 acres. It is accessible by all modes transport, as it is located at prime locations of Lahore, Pakistan. The zoo was opened in 1872, and is being managed by Wildlife and Parks department of the Government of Pakistan. The zoo is abode of more than 1400 animals of 136 different species. Lahore Zoo was also host of South Asian Zoo Association conference in 2004. Tiger House, Elephant House, Crocodile Ponds, Fancy Aviary, Monkey House are major tourist attraction in the zoo. There is also a zoo Safari park inside the zoo which was publically opened on January 21, 2009 that contains few Asiatic lions. Besides this, there are also more than 71 species of trees inside the zoo.
