What is Kingston General Hospital?
The Kingston General Hospital or KGH is the provider of health care services through health care professionals. It also delivers medical education services for the students with a partnership of Queen’s University. The hospital was also entitled as National Historic of Canada in the year 1995. It has capacity to serve 500,000 people by operating Kingston Hospital and around 23 local associate and satellite locations.
History
The
Kingston General Hospital or KGH started its journey in 1832 and setup the hospital building in 1835 after the acquisition of land from Archdeacon George O'Kill Stuart in Kingston, Ontario. The hospital building was also used by the Canadian Parliament from 1841 to 1844 during the Union of the Provinces of Upper and Lower Canada. In 1854, it commenced its partnership with Queen's University Faculty of Medicine and in 1886, the hospital introduced training program for the nurses. KGH Auxiliary was introduced in 1905 with the name KGH Women's Aid and had around 109 members in the same year.
