Irs.gov is the official of Internal Revenue Service (briefly known as IRS). Internal Revenue Service is an agency of the United States government, and provides revenue services to the Citizens in the country through its local branch offices and Taxpayer Assistance Centers. The agency is also accountable for tax collection and tax law enforcement in the United States which collects all types of taxes including income tax, sales tax, Service Tax and many other. IRS serves under the Federal Government of the United States, and is headed by the Commissioner of Internal Revenue. Initially, it was called as The Bureau of Internal Revenue. On 1st July 1862, Internal Revenue Service was founded under the Revenue Act. Its main operating office is situated in Washington, and branches are located in 50 states of the United States including District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.
