History
The foundation stones of the Houston Chronicle was laid through practices and policies of the Houston Chronicle. The company was founded in 1901 by an ex-reporter Marcellus E. Foster. The Chronicle's first release was distributed on 14th of October 1901 and sold for two cents for every duplicate, when other newspapers were sold for five cents each. At the end of its first month of operations, the circulation count was 4,378 which was nearly one tenth of the community of Huston at that time. Inside the first year of operation, the paper acquired and merged with the Day Herald.
