What is Hmas?
HMAS Cairns is a marine base of Australian Navy, Falls in the area of cairns, Queensland. It has been used since 1947, under the control of Royal Australian Navy. Before 1947, it was temporary Harbor used for maintenance of patrol boats. Later on, Complete naval base is setup here that is bonded to all naval activities of northern-eastern Australia sea. Hmas Cairns houses Australian Patrol Boat Group, which is composed of naval officers and commanders. This patrol group patrols North-East Sea cost and responsible for National protection of Australia. Many Navy ships are stationed here of Balikpapan class, Armidale class, Paluma class and Leeuwin class. In addition, many facilities have been set Up here for navy personnel such as canteen, navy shop etc. Holiday camps are also organized for Australian army.
