Golden Screen Cinemas Sdn Bhd or simply the Golden Screen Cinemas is a privately owned media and Entertainment corporation which regulates large of number of movie theaters in Malaysia. It is abbreviated as GSC. Golden Screen Cinemas also serves as venue for gala premieres, press conferences, product launches and seminars.
It had opened its doors to the entertainment world in the year of 1981. Ms. Koh Mei Lee was given the credit for the foundation of largest chain of cinemas, Golden Screen Cinemas across the country. Originally, it was known by the name Golden Communications Circuit. In the year of 1998, Golden Screen Cinemas was updated with its current icon after the amalgamation of Golden Communications (GC) Circuit and Malaysia's oldest cinema named as Cathay. The premier theater of Gsc was inaugurated in the year of 1981 on July, 14 in Kota Kinabalu. Golden Screen Cinemas, well positioned as Malaysia's topmost distributor of films is completely owned and operated by an authorized member of Singapore based Kuok Group, PPB Group Bhd. PPB, started in 1968 in Malaysia is an iconic name in the food industries, environmental engineering, utilities, waste management, property and entertainment sector.
The company has build its solid reputation in the entertainment industry by giving its presence in around 31 destination including Melaka, Kedah, Pahang, Kuala Lumpur, Sabah, Negeri Sembilan, Penang, Perak, Putrajaya, Sarawak and Selangor. Currently, nearby 251 digital screens - 233 in Malaysia and remaining 18 in Vietnam are operating under the banner Golden Screen Cinemas. It comprises of 4 international screens namely, GSC 1-Utama, GSC Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, GSC Mid Valley and GSC Gurney Plaza.
