What is General Sherman Tree?
The General Sherman is a great tree situated in the Giant Forest, Tulare County, California, United States. By size, it is the biggest famous living tree in the world. It is neither the tallest tree nor the widest and nor the oldest known tree in the world. The tree has 275 ft of height, 25 ft of diameter, 52,513 cu ft bole volume and 2,300–2,700 years of age. It is one of the tallest, widest and longest-lived trees in the world. The largest branch on it broke in January 2006 but there is no proof of that. The tree has given this name in the honor of William Tecumseh Sherman in 1879.
