History
The origins of the company date back to 1987 when Bill
Warner invented the way to transfer the video tape footage to the digital hard disks. Initially the Digidesign Company was set up in the year 1984 under the name Digidrums by Peter Gotcher and Evan Brooks. In the initial years, the Digidrums manufactured EPROM chips. The company introduced its first digital audio workstation system and sound equipment for the
Apple Company’s Mac series laptops in the year 1989.
It invented its Pro Tools system in the year 1991 which, is mostly used by the film, music and television industry to enhance the audio. In the year 2001, Digidesign received the prestigious Grammy award for its innovative software product Pro Tools. Avid Technology Company acquired the Digidesign Company in the year 1995 and adopted the name Avid Audio in the year 2011. Avid Technology Company took possession over the M-Audio (formerly known as Midiman) which is music brand. It also obtained the Sibelius (music software) from the Sibelius Software company by paying approximately US $23 million.
