What is Denver Water?
Denver Water is a public utility owned by the state government that specializes in water distribution sector. It is the largest and oldest water utility of the U.S. State of Colorado. The agency is administered and monitored by the Board of Water Commissioners which consists of five members selected by the Mayor for the period of six years. It has administrative headquarters in the Denver province of Colorado, United States.
History
Denver Water was originally formed in the year of 1870 as The Denver City Water Company. The agency was commenced operations in 1872. The main objective behind the establishment of the agency is to provide high quality water service to residents of Colorado state. With the advancement in technology, in 1906, the company used treatment process to prevent water from cholera and typhoid. The Denver City Water Company was renamed as Denver Water in 1918 with the collaboration of five-member Board of Water Commissioners.
Services and Operational Area
The agency provides the service of purified water to the residents, corporate and business areas of the Colorado state. Water is provided from reservoirs that is networked by tunnels and canals. Denver Water provides services to more than 1.3 million people across Colorado state and the its nearby suburbs. In addition, the agency also operates the recycle and treatment programs. The major treatment plants of the agency are Marston,
Moffat and Foothills that operates and monitored water quality under the Denver Water Quality Control Laboratory.
