The company was founded as Crouse-Hinds Electric Company, but later shortened to Crouse-Hinds Company that runs as a subsidiary of Eaton Corporation Plc.
History
The company was established in January 1897 by the joint efforts of Huntington Beard Crouse and Jeff Lorenzo Hinds. Huntington was the owner of several small companies and Hinds was the superintendent as well as former mechanic in an electrical company. At the time of foundation of the company, Huntington was 25 years old and Jesse was 51 years old. The first product of the company was a removable headlight for trolley cars. Cooper Industries acquired Crouse-Hinds Company on 28th of April 1981 that is further acquired by Eaton Corporation Plc. on 30th of November 2012.
