The energy production facilities of the company consist of 35 power plants across the country. It is one of the America's largest suppliers of electricity. The company has been listed among the Fortune 500 companies. Constellation Energy was established in the year 1816. The former name of the company was Gas Light Company of Baltimore. The company operates its business into Three segments namely-a customer supply business (NewEnergy), a generation business (Generation) and Baltimore Gas and Electric Company (BGE). It is a subsidiary of Exelon Corporation, the leading provider of electric based in the United States.
Constellation Energy provides energy to approximately 100,000 customers (residential, government and institutional, public sector, industrial and commercial). The company in July 2011 completed the acquisition of MXenergy Holdings. The head office of the company is situated in Baltimore, Maryland, United States. According to the Global 2000 list by Forbes, the company was at 1008 place. It was honored with Energy Company of the Year in 2004 in Platts Global Energy Awards. Constellation Energy handles more than 1,300 circuit miles of transmission lines and around 24,800 circuit miles of distribution lines. According to 2013 records, it had personnel strength of more than 7,900 employees. Its shares are publicly listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol "CEG".
